Keeping You In The Know – Avoiding Rate Increases

June 7, 2012

Many of the Trans-Pacific Westbound (“TPWB”) ocean carriers announced substantial General Rate Increases (“GRIs”) for TPWB, effective May 15, 2012. The United Shippers Alliance (“USA”) staff has been negotiating and pushing TPWB carriers to waive or significantly reduce their GRIs to USA members. The USA staff, due to its members’ collective volume and support, has succeeded in having the majority of the GRIs waived and/or mitigated for its members.

Most TPWB carriers have recently announced a TPWB GRI, effective July 1, 2012. The USA staff is already working diligently to get this new GRI waived or substantially reduced.
